Hi, I'm Petra Kneile, a freelance illustrator from Germany. My work combines traditional drawing techniques with digital finishing to create images with a tactile feel. I enjoy creating narrative and conceptual illustrations, mostly figurative, often with a touch of the surreal. My work explores themes centered around humans, ranging from history to science and psychology, as well as nature topics.

After years living and working in London, UK, I'm now based in the German countryside, which allows me to be closer to nature and study all sorts of plants and animals. My practice includes life portraiture and teaching life drawing.

With a background in fashion design and an MA Visual Arts (Illustration) from the University of the Arts London, I have worked in the creative industries for 15 years. Clients include The Business of Fashion, Hårklinikken, Alexander McQueen, Byredo, Wedgwood, Calvin Klein Europe.
